The ongoing collaboration between Channels Academy and SEPLAT Energy was renewed once more as the Capital market and Judiciary correspondents were introduced to a 2-day workshop
This workshop was meant to bridge the gap between both sectors of reportage, understand ethical considerations, maintain objectivity, and improve accuracy.
The training workshop was facilitated by some of the very best industry experts including Martin Ayankola, veteran Energy editor; Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN); Simon Ejembi, Manager, Channels Digital; Emmanuel Oshobajo, Video Production Manager, Channels Digital
The founder/chairman of Channels Television, who is also the chairman of the Channels Academy, John Momoh, expressed delight at the collaboration between Seplat Energy and the Channels Academy and called for more of such synergy towards the upliftment and empowerment of the media.
The Deputy General Counsel at Seplat Energy, Joan Aga, who also graced the event, reiterated that as the Fourth Estate of the realm, duly recognised and empowered by the Constitution, the media is in the right position to shape public opinion through balanced stories. Aga described the media industry as a critical stakeholder in Seplat Energy’s business and stressed Seplat Energy’s commitment to supporting its growth.

The Manager of Corporate Communication at Seplat Energy, Stanley Opara, lauded media practitioners for their commitment to knowledge acquisition, passion, and continuous support of the Seplat Energy brand over the years. According to him, Seplat Energy will continue to seek more avenues to partner with the media in a bid to promote excellence.
Mr Adegboruwa explained the legal implications of false reportage and highlighted the need for fact-checking.
