Kingsley Uranta is a seasoned broadcast journalist and the General Manager of Channels Television’s Academy, a media training institute aimed at developing journalists and broader community members in Nigeria.
With over 30 years in the industry, he manages corporate communications and partnerships for Channels Television, leveraging extensive experience across broadcast media management, journalism training, and corporate communications.
Kingsley joined Channels Television in 1992 as its first recruit and has held roles such as Editor, Chief Correspondent, and Controller News. Notably, he was the first at the network to receive the Nigeria Media Merit Award as Best Television Reporter in 1996.
His career includes significant contributions to international media platforms like CNN, BBC as well as global engagements such as speaking at the UN General Assembly on issues around misinformation in media.
With a distinguished career at Channels Television spanning over 25 years, Ambrose serves as the General Manager News and Current Affairs a role in which he has earned the respected sobriquet, “The General.” He has been instrumental in the station’s growth, playing a pivotal role in the establishment of Channels Television bureaus across Nigeria.
Ambrose began his journalism career in 1993 at The Guardian Newspaper, bringing a wealth of experience from its Foreign Desk when he joined Channels Television in November 1996. He has since demonstrated his versatility and commitment, rising through the ranks from Reporter and News Correspondent to his current leadership position.
His professional standing is bolstered by a strong academic foundation, including a Bachelor’s degree from Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University) and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Lagos State University (LASU). A proud member of the Nigeria Guild of Editors,
