The Academy

The Chairman's Welcome Note

I  am very pleased to welcome you to the Channels Academy.

This media institute comes at a time when the world is witnessing great disruption in the way we do our jobs.

We now live in a world where journalism is being transformed in ways it is produced, distributed and used. We now have new tools and new practices that affect the way we produce information.

The big question is do we have the capacity to take advantage of these new opportunities? This question led us to think about the need for capacity building for media practitioners. This is the whole idea behind the Channels Academy.

This hybrid institute will play a vital role in training up capable, confident and courageous journalists to be able to play their role as members of the Fourth (4th) Estate of the realm

The Academy extends its services beyond journalism to the wider industry in Nigeria and Africa.

We believe this to be the right thought with the right people in the right environment at the right time and for the right reason.

We garnish all of these with truth, sprinkled with fairness, balance, and professionalism to produce the right mix of media practitioners and citizens.
